Over 320+ SEA teachers, media specialists, guidance counselors, psychologists, speech therapists and nurses voted "No Confidence" in Strongsville School Board. The SEA speech, in its entirety, laying out reasons for this vote is available in the Negotiation News section of this website. After presenting their reasons for current actions, over 500 SEA members and community supporters walk down to attend the Board Meeting. What kind of plans has the Board been making for the school district in the event of a strike? Will students be safe in our buildings knowing what the public record has shown about the hiring practices of the firm they hired out? Will these SCABS hired be able to teach AP Calculus and AP Biology? How much will the district really save by pushing the SEA out on the streets? These questions and more were asked of the Board. The Board seemed "confused" as to what was actually in the contract that was offered the teachers. They seemed confused as to the hiring practices of Huffmaster Strike Services. A newspaper article from the Sandusky Register (8/30/06) doing research into the hiring practices of Huffmaster caused the Perkins Police Department to run its own background checks on Huffmaster security personnel, finding numerous convictions and charges, according to Perkins police Chief Tim McClung. Is this the kind of leadership our community wants from its elected Board officials? If you are confused by their actions as much as we are and have questions, please feel free to contact our Board members. Their contact information is as follows:

Over 300+ Strongsville Teachers and Supporters came out tonight, Wednesday, 2/7 to give voice and provide presence to help the Strongsville School Board get serious about the "proposals" made by the Board lawyer.. The Strongsville Teachers are looking for a fair and equitable contract whereas the rumors surrounding the negotiations indicate serious lack of valid proposals on the part of the Board. The usage of the Board lawyer is costing the district needless amount of money for dragging this process out to increase his "Bill-able" hours. We would like the Board to get serious and produce a fair and equitable contract as soon as possible.

On Tuesday, January 29th, the SEA and Board Negotiations Teams met at Polaris JVS in what hopes to be a productive session. "Rumors" surrounding the Board's last proposal brought out over 250+ SEA teachers to stand in the rain to show support for the SEA Negotiations team and to let the Board Negotiations Team see the faces of those to who will affected by their most recent "proposal". The SEA is looking for a FAIR and EQUITABLE contract soon!
